Plagiarism Policy

LIS: Letra. Imagen. Sonido. Ciudad Mediatizada is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity and does not tolerate plagiarism or any form of unethical appropriation of another person’s intellectual work. All manuscripts submitted to the journal are expected to be original and to represent the authors’ own scholarly work.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, presenting another author’s words, ideas, arguments, data, images, or other intellectual contributions as one’s own without appropriate acknowledgement. It also includes substantial unattributed copying, inappropriate paraphrasing, duplicate or redundant publication, and the reuse of previously published material without proper disclosure and citation.

Submitted manuscripts may be examined using appropriate plagiarism-detection and similarity-checking procedures. The editorial team may assess any identified similarities to determine whether they constitute legitimate quotation, commonly used terminology, properly cited material, or potential academic misconduct. A similarity score alone will not automatically determine whether plagiarism has occurred; the nature, extent, and context of the overlap will be considered.

If plagiarism or significant unattributed overlap is identified during the initial editorial assessment, the manuscript may be rejected without proceeding to peer review. Where concerns arise during peer review, the editorial process may be suspended while the matter is investigated. Authors may be asked to provide clarification or make appropriate corrections where the issue is minor and correctable.

If plagiarism or serious academic misconduct is confirmed after publication, the journal may take appropriate corrective action, which may include issuing a correction or retraction, notifying relevant parties or institutions where appropriate, and removing or restricting access to the affected publication when necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources are accurately cited and that quotations and paraphrased material are properly acknowledged. Authors should also disclose any substantial overlap between the submitted manuscript and their previously published or concurrently submitted work.

Reviewers and editors are expected to maintain confidentiality and to report suspected plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct to the editorial team. All allegations will be considered seriously and handled fairly, objectively, and in accordance with accepted principles of publication ethics.

The journal encourages authors to uphold the highest standards of originality, transparency, responsible citation, and academic integrity throughout the submission and publication process.
