Peer Review Policy

LIS: Letra. Imagen. Sonido. Ciudad Mediatizada follows a rigorous and impartial peer review process to ensure the academic quality, originality, relevance, and integrity of all published contributions. The journal welcomes scholarly articles and other research-based submissions that fall within its scope and are evaluated according to established academic standards.

All manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal’s scope, adherence to submission requirements, originality, and overall scholarly quality. Manuscripts that meet the basic requirements are subsequently sent for peer review. The journal generally follows a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential to promote objective and unbiased evaluation.

Manuscripts are normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with appropriate expertise in the subject area. Reviewers assess the manuscript’s originality, theoretical and methodological soundness, clarity of presentation, quality of analysis, significance of the contribution, appropriate use of sources, and relevance to the field. Reviewers may recommend acceptance, acceptance subject to revisions, resubmission after substantial revision, or rejection.

Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewers’ comments. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers or evaluated by the editorial team, depending on the extent of the revisions. The final decision regarding publication rests with the Editor or Editorial Board, taking into consideration the reviewers’ recommendations and the journal’s academic standards.

The journal seeks to ensure that peer review is conducted fairly, respectfully, confidentially, and without discrimination based on personal characteristics, institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, academic status, or other irrelevant factors. Reviewers are expected to disclose any potential conflict of interest and should not review manuscripts where such conflicts could affect their impartiality.

Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all manuscript materials and should not use unpublished information obtained through the review process for personal or professional advantage. They are expected to provide constructive, evidence-based comments that assist authors in improving their work and to notify the editorial team of any concerns regarding plagiarism, duplicate publication, ethical issues, or other forms of academic misconduct.

The journal also expects authors to respond appropriately and transparently to reviewers’ comments when revisions are requested. Editorial decisions are made independently and are based on the scholarly merits of the manuscript. The peer review process is intended to safeguard the quality and credibility of LIS: Letra. Imagen. Sonido. Ciudad Mediatizada and to support the dissemination of valuable research in the fields covered by the journal.
